The American Association of Palau is based in the Republic of Palau, an independent nation since 1994, which enjoys a special relationship with the United States of America defined under an agreement known as the COMPACT OF FREE ASSOCIATION. The purpose of the association is to enhance the lives of American citizens residing in Palau and to contribute to the well-being of Palau in a positive, constructive, and meaningful manner reflective of American values and respectful of Palauan society.
